First, in Plain English, here are the main points:

By using our website   RecessExpress.com   you agree to everything on this page. We must do this to protect both you and us. If you break these terms, you cannot use Recess Express dot com anymore.

This is not a Social Website. There is no way to communicate with other visitors.

If you are under thirteen - 13 -, you cannot use Recess Express without your legal guardian's approval.

Follow all laws that apply to you, based on where you live or anything else.

We do not monitor every single thing on Recess Express. It’s up to you to do right.

If we are legally required to provide information to the government that they request, we will, but not otherwise. The only information we might have would be the Internet Protocol - IP- address of computers that visit our site. We do not actually know who was at the computer or where the computer is; however, some agencies could locate a specific IP address. This process is explained later in our Privacy and Security sections.

The last thing we plan to do is shut down, but if we must, we must. We retain the option of closing down without notice.

For security and online runtimes, we have chosen a web hosting company that only has servers in the United States and Canada. They have a website online time of over ninety percent, so chances are we will always be there for you. But there might be occasional downtime. There might be bugs. The features might not always meet your exact needs. We try our best.

Now in Lawyer English:

 COOKIE POLICY

This section is designed to provide you with information on our web site data collection practices for Recess Express.

To summarize, our Cookie Policy boils down to the Recess Express website not tracking individual visitors. We count visitors as a group to see which pages attract the most visitors. These statistics show us what information is and is not of interest to visitors'. This allows us to adapt the site to our visitor's interests.

Our Cookie and Privacy policies are not passed on to web sites you visit through our web links. Each web site has its own policies, and you should review that information as you select various web sites to visit.

While we explain in detail later, our Privacy Policy is that we do not know who you are. We assume you are either a parent, grandparent, or a child in the second or third grade interested in grade school math, simply because otherwise this site would not be of interest to you.

Any person under the age of thirteen - 13 - must receive approval to use this site from their legal guardian. In some locations the age be higher than 13. Follow all rules designated for your area.

While I do not consider RecessExpress a Social Website, some locations have stricter rules and age requirements for social websites. You must follow those regulations for your area as if we were a social website. Note though, that no user on the RecessExpress.com site is able to contact another user on the site.

We never ask you for information, so we have no way of knowing who you are. Almost. One of the pieces of information your browser gives away is your IP number. Every device on the internet has its own Internet Protocol number. This is discussed in the Security section of our Privacy Policy.

COOKIE DETAILS

Our Cookie Policy constitutes an integral part of our Privacy Policy. We do not track individual visitor information, other than to monitor which pages are viewed on our site, and if the browser has visited this site previously. We track this information so we can see which pages relevant and which pages are not. We look at total counts of visitors, not individual statistics.

We use up to three types of cookies to view how well this site is working and if there are enough visitors to keep the site available. No use paying for website domains and hosting if no one visits.

Here are three types of cookies a site might use when you visit, and why we use them:

1.) Strictly necessary cookies – these cookies are necessary for a website to function properly, to improve security and to prevent fraudulent activity. These cookies are controlled by our website hosting service, not us at Recess Express.

2.) Analytics / Performance-related cookies – these cookies allow us to assess the performance of our website.

3.) Functionality-related cookies: These cookies tell us whether a visitor has visited our site before and to identify the pages (math or games) in which visitors may have the greatest interest.

We make no attempt to identify you.

If you do not allow these cookies, your visit will not be counted in our statistics, but it should not prevent the site from working for you. If you have used a Do Not Track browser setting, we will honor that request.

There could be an issue with cellphone visits if you elect to block session style cookies, such as the Function cookies (3) mentioned above.

If a cell phone changes cellphone tower connections during a website visit, (perhaps you are in a moving car) the cell phone IP address - Internet Protocol – it is like a street address for a house) could change. Without a cookie number to follow on your device, a website might lose who you are when your IP address changes. Some links may not show properly, and you may be counted as a new visitor to the site more than once.

Our Cookie Policy is not followed by any website we might link to on our pages. Review the Cookie and Privacy policies of those individual websites if you visit those websites. We are using a third-party to maintain the visitor count. They do use additional cookies to see if you have visited one of their other websites. We do not request, and that company, Statcounter.com, does not provide us with that information. You can read their entire Cookie Policy.

HOW COOKIES WORK

Where are these cookies we talk about?

A cookie is a small data file that is sent to your device’s web browser when you visit a website. This file is stored on your device.

Cookies include an identification number that is unique. Whenever a visitor lands on a website, the web host peeks at your device's browser folder to see if there is cookie data from a previous visit to the site. If the web host finds a matching cookie on your device, the site knows your browser has visited before. It then checks to see if you have made previous settings requests for your visits.

Why is a computer cookie named cookie? The term cookie refers to data passed between your computer or phone's browser and the website you are visiting. This data may help the website remember your activities.

This little data file was named cookie as a computer programming humorous spin-off from the fortune cookie at your local Asian restaurant, which carries a message inside.

Another reason is that your browser leaves little bits of data at each site as you travel around the internet. One might say that you are leaving little cookie crumbs on each site as you travel.

The cookies we use at https Recess Express dot com are considered Session Cookies. They help with navigation and visitor totals. You can have your browser automatically delete Session Cookies when you leave any site, or a few days, weeks, or months later. These controls are on your device in your web browser app.

We have at least one program on our site that uses a cookie, on your device, to store the progress of a multiplication game quiz. This game contains settings designed for the parent to decide which math times tables are used in the quiz, and the statistics of how many times a person answered math questions and the percentage of correct answers for each question. We do not save this information on our site, so without the cookie on your device the information and settings would be lost once you have disconnected from our website. Actually, when a person changes a game specification on one device, it will not be saved on a differnet device if the player uses more than one device to visit our site. Changes should be made on each device used, since the cookie resides only on the device in use when the change is made.

We do not use passwords here, but if you remove cookies on your device from a website where you have your password stored for quick entry, the site will not recognize you on your next visit and you will have to re-enter that information.

If you continue to visit our site without changing your settings, we will assume that you consent to such use of cookies.

We reserve the right to modify this Policy from time to time, so please review it regularly.

 SECURITY

The security of personal information should be important to all of us, and while we at Recess Express dot com never ask you for any information, personal or otherwise, other sites might.

While we strive to use commercially acceptable means to protect your visit, we cannot guarantee its absolute security.

Besides using updated quality virus and malware detection APPS on your phones and computers, always visit websites using the HTTPS designation, not the older HTTP. Using HTTPS engages additional encryption and security measures when connecting with that website. It is not foolproof. Like locks on doors, this will keep the average nosy person out, but not the dedicated criminal.

If your device attempts to connect to our website with a HTTP connection, we will try to switch your device to HTTPS; However, sometimes your device may not allow the change because of your device browser or malware detection settings. Those programs might think we are trying to switch you to a different site and your progrms are trying to protect you. If the device does not connect with HTTPS, your device may give you a security warning message.

For security and online runtimes, we have chosen a web hosting company that only has servers in the United States and Canada. They have a website online time of over ninety percent, so chances are we will always be there for you. But there might be an occasional downtime. There might be bugs. The features might not always meet your exact needs. We try our best.

PRIVACY POLICY

Web browsers are not good at keeping secrets.

Browsers can provide information such as your computer’s Internet Protocol -IP- address, browser type, browser version, the pages of the site that you visit, the time and date of your visit, the time spent on those pages and other statistics, as well as the location of your device when it was connected.

IP addresses are not random. They are mathematically produced and allocated by a division of the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers -ICANN.

ICANN is a non-profit organization that was established in the United States in 1998 to help maintain the security of the internet and allow it to be usable by all.

The Internet Protocol address does provide your location right down to the device you are using on the web. Law enforcement and other agencies with oodles of specialists can locate the street address where the device was located while connected with this IP number.

  Changes To This Privacy Policy

We reserve the right to update or change our Privacy Policy at any time. You should check this Privacy Policy periodically. Your continued use of our site after we post any modifications to the Privacy Policy on this page will constitute your acknowledgment of the modifications and your consent to abide and be bound by the modified Privacy Policy.

This Privacy Policy is effective as of March 1, 2024. and will remain in effect except with respect to any changes in its provisions in the future. Changes will be in effect immediately after being posted on this page.

DMCA - Digital Millennium Copyright Act

This 1998 USA copyright law criminalizes production and dissemination of technology, devices, or services intended to circumvent measures that control access to copyrighted works.

We are committed to safeguarding the intellectual property rights of others. Any creative material used on our Site is believed to be lawfully licensed and authorized.

I work with several organizations that offer licensed material, including text, artwork, photos, programming script, and other design resources.

I am a member of Git-Hub, an organization of website and program code engineers that share “open source” materials with other members offering a license to use the software, as is or modified. Without additional licensing agreements, the end user cannot use the scripts on a commercial website where payment is involved.

I am a paying subscriber of FREEPIX, an organization in Spain, that provides various design components and artwork. Their website name is FREEPIX, and while there is some artwork available without cost, most artwork does require payment. A paid membership offers a less intrusive attribution and copyright license agreement. If one creates a lot of documents, websites, or presentations with artwork, graphics, etc.,  this is an excellent site as a resource.

I am a subscriber to CODEPEN.IO. The Codepen site provides a secure on-line platform where I can code and view animated objects and graphics for Recess Express using front-end languages such as HTML, CSS, JavaScript. Most animated graphics are through our subscription with CODEPEN.IO. If you are a programmer, this is a pretty cool site - and helpful contributors as well.

We also use the Word, Publisher, and Notepad from Microsoft 365 suite of programs, and Corel Paint Shop Pro Ultimate 2024 to edit all photos and graphics for our website.

The site is developed on my own computers and its transmitted to my web host using CoffeCup software - Direct FTP, and Microsoft Expressions Web 4 programs.

All artwork, graphics, or web elements on Recess Express are made by me, or gathered from the above listed websites claiming to own the product they have offered through our paid subscriptions and are said to be royalty free. However, we cannot always guarantee that the licensors of any of those creative materials are fully authorized for such use by the website that offered the item.

In accordance with the Digital Millennium Copyright Act of 1998, we will respond expeditiously to claims of copyright infringement, and immediately remove such item from our site when notified that the website that provided the artwork to us did not own the rights to do so.

  WEB HOST SERVICE

123ehost.com

SITE OWNERSHIP

The website is a volunteer service.

The site is privately maintained and paid for by a resident in Florida, USA.

Donations are not solicited nor accepted.
